Fast, Easy, TV Football Snacks: Backfield Chili Con Queso Recipe
A spicy TV Football Snack in under 20 minutes

This popular TV football snack can be made right before the kickoff and served, or days before the football game of the week. It reheats in the microwave fast and perfectly. Either way, it's a spicy, hearty, delicious, hot snack that's sure to please the football fans in your den come game day. Put a hot bowl of Backfield Chili Con Queso on the table with some chips and paper plates and watch the fans go wild!
What you will need:
1 two pound loaf of original Velveeta cheese
1 10 ounce can of Rotel (RO*TEL) brand diced tomatoes and green chilies
½ teaspoon of Tobasco sauce
¼ teaspoon chili seasoning
Recipe option: For a much, much spicier Backfield Chili Con Queso, use two cans of Rotel. If you do use a second can, drain the liquid off before adding the diced tomatoes and green chilies to the Velveeta.
Cut the loaf of Velveeta into cubes and place them into a medium sized saucepan. Add all of the other ingredients, including the liquid from one can of Rotel, and put the saucepan onto a medium-low heat stove burner. Put the lid onto the saucepan. Check and stir the ingredients frequently: about every 2-3 minutes. Continue cooking until all of the Velveeta is melted and the ingredients are thoroughly mixed. If the mixture is thicker than you desire, remove the lid, increase the heat slightly and stir for about 5 minutes, or until the desired thickness is achieved. If your mixture is too thick for your liking, then stir in a couple of tablespoons of milk. Keep your Backfield Chili Con Queso covered until it's being served so the Velveeta does not skim over.
Serve Backfield Chili Con Queso in a medium to large size bowl, suitable for dipping, along with your favorite brand of tortilla chips. Paper plates and/or large napkins are highly recommended when serving Backfield Chili Con Queso – to catch any drips. As always, hand wipes will be appreciated by you and your football fan friends.
