Fast & Easy Old Fashioned Apple Pie Recipe
Use Fresh or Frozen Apples In This Apple Pie Recipe

This is one of my favorite apple pie recipes. It is basic and super easy. You'll find nothing tricky about this apple pie recipe. It's so easy anyone can make it. Except for the apples, most of the ingredients for this apple pie recipe are commonly found in your kitchen. You don't really need a special occasion to make an apple pie. But when you do, your family will most certainly reward you with lots of compliments. Make sure you tell them just how hard it was to make this classic pie dish. This recipe for apple pie will serve at least 6 folks.
What you will need:
2- 9" pie crusts (homemade or store bought)
¼ cup brown sugar, packed
½ cup white sugar
2 tablespoons flour
¼ teaspoon salt
¾ teaspoon nutmeg
5-7 medium sized, firm green apples, peeled, cored and sliced (about 6 cups)
¼ stick (2 tablespoons) butter, cut into small pads
Preheat the oven to 425° F. Mix the brown sugar, white sugar, flour, salt and nutmeg together in a mixing bowl. Lay one of the pie crusts into your pie plate and form it to fit the inside of your plate. Pour your sliced apples into the uncooked pie crust. Now pour the flour mixture on top of the apples and dot the top with small butter pads. Distribute the butter pads as evenly as you can. Now put your second pie crust on top of the apple mixture. Seal and flute the edges of the pie crusts. Make at least two slits on the top crust so steam can escape during cooking. The slits will help the pie cook properly, and also help keep your oven cleaner.
Bake the pie for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is a light golden brown and the juice begins to bubble through the slits you cut. Remove the pie from the oven and place it on a wire rack. Allow your freshly cooked apple pie to cool for one hour. This pie is best served warm. It will reheat very nicely in a microwave.
For a special added touch, you can put some whipped cream on the table when you serve your family this apple pie recipe. Or, you can go for the classic and serve your apple pie with a scoop of ice cold vanilla ice cream on top.
