Best LIVE Performances by Lady Gaga
This year Lady Gaga has done the impossible. She used her god-given talent at singing and performing to catapult herself into a small group of influential pop culture icons. Not only is Lady Gaga a fashion forward stunner, her vocal skills are strong and in tune without the usual effort of heavy studio remixing. She has made several provocative music videos, many of which have views well into the millions on YouTube. But it’s her LIVE performances which get her fans’ blood running. She effortlessly sings and dances alongside her backup crew, captivating her fans with a uniquely styled and sexually charged performance each and every time.
One of my favorite LIVE performances by Lady Gaga would have to be when she performed at the AMA’s. Yes, that was the same night that Adam Lambert performed LIVE, during which he kissed a guy, grabbed a girl and then got blurred out. Even after all that hoopla, talk about Lady Gaga’s LIVE performance was still all over the news the next day. She pulled off a very dramatic, and somewhat bloody, performance of her #1 hit Paparazzi. I was unable to find a clip of this particular LIVE performance, probably because the AMA has had them legally removed from YouTube.
Another one of my favorite LIVE performances by Lady Gaga is her acoustic performance of Poker Face at AOL’s Sessions. Lady Gaga slows the tempo down big-time, making this already dramatic song even more disturbing. Her voice is rough like Janis Joplin, making her performance very unique and harder to stop watching. At one point during the LIVE performance, Lady Gaga throws her leg, high heel and all, up onto the keyboard, to help her hit the high notes. Die-hard Lady Gaga fans know that she wrote her #1 hit Speechless for her father, when he was faced with open heart surgery. The lyrics are very sweet and obviously written from the heart. She hasn’t performed Speechless in her normal, sexually charged way. Instead, Lady Gaga always sings this song while sitting at the piano, which seems very appropriate and reverent. Another LIVE performance by Lady Gaga you should watch is when she sang Just Dance at the finale for Dancing With The Stars. She had her shorter hair back then, at least shorter compared to the long blonde locks she is currently rocking on her Monster Ball Tour. I just don’t know how she does it, singing, dancing and looking sexy – and all without falling down from a total lack of oxygen.
