Lady Gaga Performs Bad Romance for Simon Cowell
Lady Gaga performed her Grammy nominated song Bad Romance during the wildly popular singing competition show, X Factor, last evening in the UK. Television show mogul Simon Cowell invited the Monster Ball momma to his show knowing that Lady Gaga would put 110% into her performance. Of course having a red-hot super star like Lady Gaga on his show would also ensure a dramatic jump up the viewership numbers. Lady Gaga’s appearance on X Factor last night was a very good promotional decision on Simon Cowell’s part.
Lady Gaga had a few outlandish requests for her Bad Romance performance, which surprisingly caught Simon Cowell off guard. Lady Gaga asked that there be “lambs and hundreds of butterflies on stage” during her Bad Romance performance. Both animals were eventually vetoed off stage by the health and safety regulators for the talent show. Instead, Lady Gaga opted to go with her true and time tested animal of choice: half naked male dancers. This is not the first time Lady Gaga has had such strange concert requests. A few months ago, she reportedly asked that lions accompany her to the MTV Video Music Awards show. MTV shot down the lions, replacing them with Kermit the Frog. Yes, it’s true, MTV cameras caught Lady Gaga as she showed up in a limo at the award show with Muppet star Kermit The Frog.
While Lady Gaga was getting ready for her Bad Romance performance on the ITV show, X Factor, she sent the following tweet; “Nothin like a whiskey, fish and chips in the UK to prepare for the Queen.” After Lady Gaga finished her fantastic show, the master of ceremonies took a few minutes to talk with her. When asked, Lady Gaga gave some down-to-earth advice to the remaining three contestants, “Be yourself and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do it.” You can watch her performance of Bad Romance during the X Factor show at this YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5OhYTpKJd8
Lady Gaga is in the UK for the next few weeks. She will be singing for the Queen at the 81st Royal Variety Performance at The Opera House Theatre, in Blackpool’s Winter Gardens tonight. That show will air on December 16th! Joining Lady Gaga on stage for this regal event will be The Divine Bette Midler and the teen sensation Miley Cyrus.
Lady Gaga will be kicking off her US tour with two shows in San Francisco starting December 13, 2009. The concert tour promoting her latest album, The Fame Monster, is appropriately named The Monster Ball. If you decide to buy tickets and attend one of Lady Gaga’s concerts, she will lovingly call you “one of her little monsters,” so don’t be offended. The 23 year old Italian born New Yorker made Barbara Walters list of the 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009. Barbara will be interviewing Lady Gaga on the annual show, airing this week on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 on ABC.
