Carriers reviewed in 25 words or less:

This is not at all a horror movie. It’s mediocre drama at best. Too few people, a hackneyed concept and no great moments at all.

FULL REVIEW of Carriers

I watched Carriers primarily because it starred Chris Pine. Since I enjoyed his style in the latest Star Trek movie, where he played Captain Kirk, I figured I couldn’t go too far wrong. My mistake.

In Carriers, I was also interested in seeing a little known actor who I enjoy: Christopher Meloni. He’s been in many movies and shows, but hardly anyone recognizes him. In my opinion, he’s a huge talent. If you saw Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle, then you may remember him as the tow truck driver, Freakshow. This guy can play anything – from a serious FBI agent to a weird country truck driver – he’s excellent!

Carriers is the story of four young people who are in a post pandemic world. They are traveling across country to reach a beach that has special childhood memories attached to it. The four people constitute two couples, though the relationship of one of those couples is in doubt – at best.

During their harrowing trek in Carriers, the four travelers constantly confront the problems one might expect in a post pandemic world. Everyone is paranoid about the disease, which kills quickly, and not nicely. Nobody will share anything. There are super bad evil doers – all the typical plot devices you’d expect in a movie of this type.

Despite Carriers’ weaknesses and disappointing elements, Chris Pine did a good job with his role. In my opinion, he needs to avoid shallow dramatic roles and get into action and/or suspense roles. While he did a good job in Carriers, it did not show off his talents at all.

Directors of Carriers: Àlex Pastor and David Pastor. Stars of Carriers: Lou Taylor Pucci, Chris Pine, Piper Perabo, Emily VanCamp, Christopher Meloni, Kiernan Shipka, Ron McClary, Josh Berry and Mark Moses.
