Movie review of Command Performance (2009)
DAMIEN’S RATING of Command Performance: 2 – Despite knowing that I needed to review this movie, I had to fast forward through much of it. I’d avoid watching this movie unless you need to impress your new in-laws or your boss.

Command Performance reviewed in 25 words or less: This is a real train wreck of an action movie. Dolph should have quit while he was ahead.
FULL REVIEW of Command Performance
Command Performance is truly a Dolph Lundgren movie project. The aging action star directed Command Performance, stars in it and helped write it. Oh yes, and he cast his daughter in it.
In Command Performance, the widowed Russian president is attending a hard rock concert in Moscow with his two young daughters. Dolph Lundgren’s character is a pothead drummer in the band that is opening for the main act at the rock concert. A heavily armed band of ruthless terrorists have infiltrated the concert staff, and when the moment during the concert is right – they strike. After a couple of bloody minutes, the terrorists control the arena and hold the Russian president, his two daughters, the American ambassador and the star of the concert as hostage. Needless to say, they have demands. Now it’s up to Dolph to save the day.
Dolph Lundgren, while still in pretty good shape for his age (he shows us during all the scenes in Command Performance where he is shirtless), is just a bit too long in the tooth for action hero roles. Command Performance proves this to be true. His action fight scenes are cutaway a great deal, poorly choreographed, not well lighted and not very thrilling.
Command Performance offers viewers very little in the way of action. The script is third rate. The story is nothing new. The acting is atrocious and some of the things that go on during Command Performance are simply hard to wrap your head around. It’s just not believable, for example, that the young, hot, sexy concert diva falls instantly in heat for Dolph as soon as she sees him.C’mon…
I would like to shout out a kudos to actor Dave Legeno, who played Oleg Kazov in Command Performance. I think he did a great job with what he was given to work with. You might know him from his professional fighting career, or perhaps from the Harry Potter movies. Dave is a fantastic bad guy – really!
Dolph Lundgren has another one of his projects in post production as I write this. The new movie, Icarus, should be released soon. After Command Performance, I don’t know if I’ll be able to watch anymore movies that Dolph directs and stars in – and writes. I wonder if he does the catering, too…
