DAMIEN’S RATING of Will Ferrell: You’re Welcome America – A Final Night with George W Bush: 6 – This movie was okay. I wouldn’t drive to the DVD rental place to get it, though. If you’re in the market for something new and ‘risky,’ this might be your movie for the weekend.

Will Ferrell: You’re Welcome America – A Final Night with George W Bush reviewed in 25 words or less: Some very good humor, some decent humor and way too much not-so-funny stuff. A 30 minute show would have been better.
FULL REVIEW of Will Ferrell: You’re Welcome America – A Final Night with George W Bush
I think Will Ferrell is a talented comedian. He has excellent timing, does some really funny characters and excels at physical comedy. I must admit, however, that I have a caveat to my enjoyment of Will Ferrell: I prefer him in relatively small doses. While there aren’t very many Saturday Night Live skits I don’t enjoy Ferrell in, his movies tend to wear me down.
Will Ferrell’s Saturday Night Live portrayal of President George Bush caught on fast. I know I think he did an excellent job in his Bush skits on SNL. Ferrell’s success wasn’t due to his fantastic likeness to Bush, nor was Ferrell spot-on with the voice, but all-in-all it just worked well. I credit Ferrell’s comedic ability and some great writing for this characters success.
In Will Ferrell: You’re Welcome America – A Final Night with George W Bush, Ferrell dons his Bush persona and performs on stage in front of a live audience for about 90 minutes.
Ferrell’s performance is typical of the veteran comedian. He delivered his lines well and punctuated his performance with the appropriate gag gestures and actions. The production quality was very good. I especially liked the filming angles etc.
Will Ferrell: You’re Welcome America – A Final Night with George W Bush is not very well written. Most of the humor is shallow or just plain not very funny. For Ferrell to pull this 90 minutes off, he would have needed some excellent writing – and he just didn’t have it in Will Ferrell: You’re Welcome America – A Final Night with George W Bush.
I think that if they edited this show down to about 30 minutes they could get all of the best humor, and some of the second best humor. In fact, there are times during Will Ferrell: You’re Welcome America – A Final Night with George W Bush that it seems like Ferrell is actually adding fluff to make the show last longer. I could see no humor at all in some of his lengthy antics – such as when he (comically) chastises an audience member – for what seems to be an endless span of time.
Director of Will Ferrell: You’re Welcome America – A Final Night with George W Bush: Marty Callner. Stars of Will Ferrell: You’re Welcome America – A Final Night with George W Bush: Will Ferrell, Michael Delaney, Pia Glenn, Adam Mucci, and Patrick Ferrell.
