This is a synopsis, commentary and review of the TV series 24: Season 1 – Episode 9, which occurs in the time frame of 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM. This episode of 24 was directed by Stephen Hopkins. For a complete list of all the stars and directors from all 195 episodes of 24, please click here.

This episode of 24 begins with Secret Service agent Aaron Pierce (Glenn Morshower) and his men ushering Senator David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert) and his wife, Sherry Palmer (Penny Johnson) out of the power station where the assassination attempt took place. Then we flash to the heavily guarded compound where Kim Bauer (Elisha Cuthbert) and her mother Teri Bauer (Leslie Hope) are returned to the barn and locked inside.

Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) is trying to explain that he was not really going to kill Palmer. Jack can’t tell the investigator everything or Ira Gaines (Michael Massee) will kill Kim and Teri, so he’s not doing well. He’s told that Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard) called and turned him in. Jack tells the investigator that the photographer is the killer – and the investigator looks into it while Jack is cuffed to a steel pole.

Tony and Nina Myers (Sarah Clarke) are still questioning Jamey Farrell (Karina Arroyave), who finally gives up Gaines’ name and says she’ll help. She cuts Gaines’ video feeds of CTU and calls him with an excuse – but he tells her to get it back ASAP ‘or else.’ Nina leaves the room and puts Milo Pressman (Eric Balfour) in charge of Jamey’s duties.

Jack tells the investigator that he must be allowed back into the game, and tells him about Kim and Teri. He still won’t let Jack go, and sends him to Division with some agents. Jack promptly escapes from the agents – with a pistol. Everybody starts chasing him. Jack flees the compound and commandeers a station wagon and its female driver. Jack makes her drive him to a nearby construction site. Jack takes her inside a temporary construction office trailer. Jack calls Nina and she tells him Jamey was the spy. Jamey wont’ help anymore without immunity, so Jack tells Nina to bring Jamey’s son into CTU to use as leverage. Jack then has Nina send a car, loaded with supplies, to a nearby address. Jack’s hostage, Lauren, has heard the conversation and asks Jack what’s going on – he kind of tells her. Jack gets his cuffs cut.

Chief of Staff Mike Novick (Jude Ciccolella) tells Palmer Jack is the suspect in the assassination. Palmer recognizes the name, but can’t remember from what.

One of the guards comes into the barn where Teri and Kim are. He tries to rape Kim, but she fights – Teri says she’ll go easily. The two disappear into an anteroom.

Sherry calls reporter Maureen Kingsley (Devika Parikh) and makes a deal with her – so that Maureen won’t run the story about Keith Palmer’s (Vicellous Reon Shannon) involvement in the murder. Teri gets back with Kim and makes her promise not to tell Jack about the rape. Teri pulls out the cell phone she stole from the guard and calls Nina, but she has to cutoff the call when a guard enters the barn.

Palmer confronts Sherry about manipulating Maureen – Sherry lies.

Jamey tells Nina and Tony she needs time to think about helping them catch Gaines – she doesn’t want her son, Kyle, to see her in restraints. Nina and Tony leave the room.

The cops and Secret Service arrive outside the construction trailer where Jack is hiding with Lauren. He asks her to bring him the car Nina dropped off. Lauren leaves the trailer, and then tells the cops where Jack is. (Duh!) Jack jumps out the back window and runs to the car.

Nina and Tony return to the room where Jamey is and there’s a broken coffee cup and Jamey is bleeding to death – an apparent suicide. Jamey’s son, Kyle, arrives at CTU. Gaines calls Jamey’s phone, but nobody can answer.

This is a synopsis, commentary and review of the TV series 24: Season 1 – Episode 8, which occurs in the time frame of 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM. This episode of 24 was directed by Stephen Hopkins. For a complete list of all the stars and directors from all 195 episodes of 24, please click here.

This episode of 24 begins with a shot of Nina Myers (Sarah Clarke) walking towards a road. We then flash to Senator David Palmer’s (Dennis Haysbert) hotel, where the breakfast and rally is to be held. The assassin, Martin Belkin, is walking into the building when Ira Gaines (Michael Massee) calls him and tells him that Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) is on his way there.

Palmer tells his wife Sherry Palmer (Penny Johnson) that he is going to tell the world about Keith Palmer’s (Vicellous Reon Shannon) involvement in the accidental death. Sherry is very upset! So is Keith.

Gaines has Jack pickup a briefcase and then go to a power station – he lets Jack hear Teri’s voice. Gaines has his men take Teri to where Kim is and then he calls Jamey Farrell (Karina Arroyave) at CTU. Jamey takes a PDA out of her drawer and heads to the ladies room. Gaines sends Jamey some text messages and then tells her that Nina is dead – and that Jamey should makeup a story about why Nina is not at CTU.

Nina finds a building with a phone and calls Jamey – but she doesn’t answer. (If you watch this episode of 24, during this scene you can see the cameraman for a few seconds on the right hand side of the screen.) She then calls Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard) – and tells him nobody can know she’s alive, and to get the phone to Jamey. Tony walks to Jamey, who is working with Milo Pressman (Eric Balfour) – and overhears her say she just talked to Nina, who is at Division and won’t be back all day. Tony walks away and tells Nina he’s going to call Division. Nina tells him that Jamey is a spy and can’t be trusted. Tony sends a car to get Nina.

Jack arrives at the power station where Palmer is speaking and Secret Service agent Aaron Pierce (Glenn Morshower) checks him in, along with the briefcase and laptop from Gaines. Gaines directs him to a small room – where he is to wait.

Nina arrives at CTU and tells Tony what’s going on. Tony starts to call Secret Service, Nina stops him, but then lets him make the call to Pierce.

Martin Belkin enters the room Jack is in and opens the laptop, exposing a broken down gun. He tells Jack to assemble and load it – so Jack’s prints are on it. Belkin puts the gun in his camera case and leaves the room.

Tony goes and tells Milo that he has found the real key card – so that Jamey hears him. Nina watches Jamey on video cameras. Pierce calls Tony back and Tony tells him that Jack is a threat. Jamey heads to the ladies room – Tony follows her. Tony goes in and grabs her as she’s texting Gaines – they leave quickly, before the cameras come back on the bathroom. Nina and Tony interrogate Jamey in a tech room. Jamey won’t talk, and Tony cuffs her to a table.

Palmer takes the podium and Belkin excuses himself from his liaison and leaves the crowd. Gaines tells Jack to step out of the room. Gaines has Jack walk towards Belkin and tells him after Belkin shoots Palmer, Jack should take the gun from him. Belkin takes aim and an agent stops Jack – the two men block Belkin’s shot. Jack grabs at the agent’s gun and the agent yells “gun.” Palmer is protected, Belkin can’t shoot him. Jack is arrested and Gaines gives orders to kill Kim and Teri. Tony forces Jamey to call Gaines and tell him Division is searching for Jack – Gaines calls off killing Teri and Kim.

TV series 24: Season 1 – Episode 7

August 31st, 2010 by Damien "DJ" Andrews | Posted in 24 - The TV Series | No Comments »

This is a synopsis, commentary and review of the TV series 24: Season 1 – Episode 7, which occurs in the time frame of 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM. This episode of 24 was directed by Bryan Spicer. For a complete list of all the stars and directors from all 195 episodes of 24, please click here.

This episode of 24 begins by showing us the assassin, who is masquerading as Martin Belkin the photographer (hereinafter referred to simply as Martin Belkin) dying his hair, putting in colored contacts and getting dressed. Ira Gaines (Michael Massee) then tells him he’ll be seeing his target, Senator David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert), in an hour. Gaines then gets back to telling Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) what to do. He tells Jack to get the key card that’s under his visor and continue to CTU.

At CTU, Milo Pressman (Eric Balfour) tells Nina Myers (Sarah Clarke) that he is close to decrypting another part of the key card data. Palmer chases down his son, Keith Palmer (Vicellous Reon Shannon) to explain about why he is going to tell the nation about Keith and his self defense killing of his sister’s rapist: Palmer doesn’t want Maureen Kingsley (Devika Parikh) to spin it the wrong way. Keith is very upset – thinking he will surely go to jail if the details come out.

Kim Bauer (Elisha Cuthbert) asks Rick again to help her escape. He refuses, but says when Gaines pays him he’ll leave and call Kim’s dad.

Jack arrives at CTU and Gaines tells him to switch the new key card with the one Milo is decrypting. Nina tells Jack the body he sent in is Alan York’s. Jack now knows that his wife, Teri Bauer (Leslie Hope), is not with the real Alan York. Gaines calls the fake Alan York (Richard Burgi) and leaves a message warning him that Jack knows – and so might Teri.

Teri tells York she’s feeling sick, and asks him to stop the car. Teri runs off and York checks his messages. York takes the keys out of the ignition and goes after Teri. Teri jumps out and hits him with a rock and struggles with him. He throws the keys away and then Teri knocks him out. She ties York to a tree and tries her cell – but no reception. She runs into the woods seeking higher ground.

Rick asks Gaines for his money so he can leave – Gaines tells him he has to stay.

At CTU, Jack starts to write Nina a note that he’s bugged, but Gaines can see him on CTU cameras and stops him. Jack makes the card switch. Jack then has to call and get priority clearance for the Palmer breakfast and rally. Jack is told by the Secret Service that he should report to Secret Service agent Aaron Pierce (Glenn Morshower) when he arrives at the breakfast.

Rick returns to the small building where Kim is being kept and tells her Gaines wouldn’t release him, so he’s ready to help her escape from the compound with him. Rick will leave the door unlocked when he leaves, and then Kim is to run to the fence and out of the compound.

Milo discovers the key card is different and tells Nina, who goes and asks Jack where the real key card is. Jack puts a gun to Nina and marches her out of CTU. As they leave, Milo and Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard) are suspicious. Jack has Nina drive the car Gaines gave him.

Teri gets cell reception and calls Jamey Farrell (Karina Arroyave) at CTU. Jamey says she’ll send a STU agent to get her.

Sherry Palmer (Penny Johnson) asks Senator Palmer if she can blackmail Maureen into not running the story. She’s been working with Carl Webb (Zach Grenier). Palmer says no.

Rick distracts Kim’s guard and she leaves the building, then Rick joins her and they make their way to the fence.

A dark sedan pulls up where Teri is and two men go to her and identify themselves as CTU agents. They then release York and recapture Teri. They’re bad guys. At CTU, Jamey destroys the note with Teri’s location written on it. Tony tells Jamey to get him a 10-minute loop of the past from Jack’s office, which is where Jack took Nina at gunpoint.

Gaines directs Jack and Nina to an out of the way oil rig. Gaines then tells Jack to kill Nina. Jack marches her to a ditch and shoots her point blank. Nina falls into the ditch. Jack then drives towards the Palmer breakfast.

Kim and Rick are about to escape under the compound fence when Kim hears her mother arriving at the compound and won’t leave.

Tony reviews the video of Jack’s office and sees him take Nina at gunpoint, but also notes that Jack put a bullet proof jacket on her before they left. We then see Nina wake up and start walking towards the road.

This is a synopsis, commentary and review of the TV series 24: Season 1 – Episode 6, which occurs in the time frame of 5:00 AM to 6:00 AM. This episode of 24 was directed by Bryan Spicer. For a complete list of all the stars and directors from all 195 episodes of 24, please click here.

This episode of 24 begins in the operating room of the hospital, where Janet York (Jacqui Maxwell) has crashed and is being revived while Alan York (Richard Burgi) and Teri Bauer (Leslie Hope) watch through the window. Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) calls Teri and she tells him about Janet. Jack tells her not to let anyone near Janet – that she might be in great danger. Jack drops the body off at CTU and tells Nina Myers (Sarah Clarke) to ID the man – that he is somehow connected to the assassination plot against Senator David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert). Jack takes a chopper to the hospital.

Back at the compound, Ira Gaines (Michael Massee) tells Rick to bury his friend Dan. Kim Bauer (Elisha Cuthbert) is just sitting there now – watching Rick. Kim tries to talk Rick into escaping with her – but he’s not having any.

Carl Webb (Zach Grenier) shows up at Palmer’s suite and is questioned by Sherry Palmer (Penny Johnson) – but he won’t tell her anything. Palmer tells Webb he now knows that he covered up Keith Palmer’s (Vicellous Reon Shannon) involvement in the rapist’s murder. Webb tells Palmer that he did cover up the fact that Keith had been with the rapist, but killed him in self defense. Palmer fires Webb – and then Webb tells him that Sherry Palmer orchestrated the whole cover up. Palmer is shocked and angry.

Back at the heavily guarded compound, Kim helps Rick dig Dan’s grave – and they sort of bond.

Jack arrives at the hospital and has security lockdown the ward where Janet is. Jack hugs Teri and then starts to question York – but Teri pulls him off.

Palmer confronts Sherry about Webb and Keith. They get into it. Palmer clearly no longer trusts his wife.

Gaines comes to where Kim is digging the grave with Rick and takes her into a building.

Jack pulls Teri aside and tells her about the Palmer assassination – and that Kim and Janet have something to do with it. Teri comes unglued. York is headed upstairs – Janet is out of surgery and in ICU – Jack and Teri follow.

The doctor tells Jack that he can question Janet – if it’s okay with her father. York says it’s okay, but he wants a moment with her first. York goes to Janet’s room while Jack and Teri wait. Jack’s phone rings – it’s Gaines. Gaines tells Jack to obey his orders, or Kim dies – Gaines can see Jack on the hospital security system. Gaines tells him to move down the hall, away from Teri. Jack complies. Gaines guides Jack to the parking garage. Meanwhile, York gets to Janet’s room, goes in and kills her – clearly, York is not really her father. (Oddly, no alarms go off as Janet flat lines.)

Jack is guided into a car that has cameras in it, and is then told to put a hidden com unit into his ear and throw away his cell phone. Jack’s told to go to CTU.

Teri tries calling Jack, but gets his answering system. York shows up where Teri is and shows her an address he says he got from Janet – that’s where Kim is. York leaves the hospital with Teri – to take her to the address.

Kim is taken back to Rick, who is finishing burying Dan.

Independent contractor and computer tech, Milo Pressman (Eric Balfour) shows up at CTU to break the key card codes Jamey had been working on.

Jamey has identified the body Jack brought in, but Nina can’t reach Jack so she calls Teri, thinking they are together. Nina asks Teri to give Jack the message that the body was that of the real Alan York. Teri realizes the man driving her is a bad guy. Tune in next week…

TV series 24: Season 1 – Episode 5

August 26th, 2010 by Damien "DJ" Andrews | Posted in 24 - The TV Series | No Comments »

This is a synopsis, commentary and review of the TV series 24: Season 1 – Episode 5, which occurs in the time frame of 4:00 AM to 5:00 AM. This episode of 24 was directed by Winrich Kolbe. For a complete list of all the stars and directors from all 195 episodes of 24, please click here.

This episode of 24 begins in a hospital surgery room, where Janet York (Jacqui Maxwell) is being prepped. Then Alan York (Richard Burgi) and Teri Bauer (Leslie Hope) rush in to the hospital and then back to surgery. Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) calls Teri and she tells him about Janet – and that Kim Bauer (Elisha Cuthbert) is still missing. Teri is hysterical and neglects to tell Jack the serious nature of Kim’s last call to her.

Dan and Rick put Kim into Ira Gaines’ (Michael Massee) car and then Gaines tells them to drive to the compound to get their money.

Jack arrives at the police station where the man he chased was taken after killing the cop. He calls Nina Myers (Sarah Clarke) to get help seeing the man, who is in custody. Nina’s computer is still on lockdown, so she asks Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard) for help. Jack talks his way in to question the arrested man, but George Mason (Xander Berkeley) arrives and takes Jack into custody before he can question the man. Mason does the questions. The man says he’ll only talk to Jack. As people watch, Jack enters the room where the man is, whispers something to him and then attacks him. The police intercede. The man, who we learn is named Penticoff, gets his one phone call, and calls Jack, who had placed a piece of paper in his mouth while they fought. He tells Jack he knows about Kim, but won’t talk until he is free. He has to answer a phone call at the building where Jack found him in 20 minutes, or Kim will be lost forever. Jack gets Nina to setup a trace on the phone line just outside the building. Jack then gets Penticoff out of the jail – by giving him a stolen key card for his holding room.

Senator David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert) calls Maureen Kingsley (Devika Parikh) and meets with her. Maureen tells Palmer about her sources for the pending story that Palmer’s son, Keith Palmer (Vicellous Reon Shannon), killed his sister’s, Nicole Palmer (Megalyn Echikunwoke) rapist. Palmer gently threatens Maureen and then leaves the meeting and goes to Keith’s room to talk to him. Keith refuses to tell Palmer anything about the night in question.

Mason sets up a satellite feed computer at the police station to track Jack and Penticoff. He sees Jack and Penticoff get into Jack’s SUV and drive away. He now starts tracking where Jack went. Penticoff gets his phone call from Gaines, but it’s on a cell that was hidden near the pay phone Nina was tracing. Gaines tells Penticoff to go to a vehicle and dispose of the body in the trunk. He and Jack get to the car and open the trunk – where a dead man is bagged. Mason and his team arrive. Mason’s going to arrest him until Jack shows him the body. Mason takes Penticoff to District and Jack takes the car and body to CTU. Jack calls Teri and tells her he’ll be at the hospital in 20 minutes.

Gaines arrives at the compound with Kim in the trunk. He asks Dan about Janet, again – and again he lies to Gaines. Gaines shoots and kills Dan.

This episode of 24 begins with a shot of Janet York (Jacqui Maxwell) regaining consciousness after being a hit and run victim. We then see Dan and Rick manhandling Kim Bauer (Elisha Cuthbert) to get her back into their van.

At CTU, Nina Myers (Sarah Clarke) is upset with Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) for suspecting that she was a spy. Jack is trying to assuage her anger by telling her confidential information. He tells Nina that she and Jamey Farrell (Karina Arroyave) are the only people who can be trusted right now.

Senator David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert) returns to his hotel suite/campaign headquarters and calls Carl Webb (Zach Grenier) to see if he’s made any progress on the threats from reporter Maureen Kingsley (Devika Parikh). Webb has nothing yet. Then Sherry Palmer (Penny Johnson) asks her husband where he’s been at this hour – Palmer lies.

Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard) shows Jack an anomaly in the passenger list of the bombed 747. Then Jamey and Nina show Jack an address they were able to get from the programmed key card. Jack starts to go to check it out, and all the CTU systems are shutdown. George Mason (Xander Berkeley) marches into CTU with several men in suits. CTU is on lockdown and under investigation by District. Jack tells Jamey to hide the key card and then he forces his way out of CTU. Tony tells Nina he initiated the lockdown. Nobody will tell Mason where jack is.

Secret Service agent Aaron Pierce (Glenn Morshower) meets with Palmer and tells him this assassination threat is the real deal, and that he needs to take precautions. Palmer won’t change his schedule.

Kim keeps yelling that Dan and Rick need to take her back to see if Janet is still alive. Suddenly, Rick realizes that if Janet is alive, she can ID them – and he turns back to shoot her. Kim is now very unhappy and gets bound and gagged.

Alan York (Richard Burgi) and Teri Bauer (Leslie Hope) are somewhat aimlessly driving around looking for Kim and Janet when a motorcycle cop stops them. The cop goes to check and see if Teri really made a 911 call, and York gets out of the car and confronts the cop – who handcuffs him for being disobedient.

Jack arrives at the address that was on the key card. Once inside, he gets into a shootout. A cop driving by outside hears the shooting and calls for backup. The cop stops Jack briefly and the bad guy escapes, but Jack and the cop pursue. Jack and the cop separate to flush the bad guy as backup arrives. The bad guy takes the cop hostage. Jack rushes the bad guy, but the cop gets shot and killed.

Just as Dan pulls the van up to shoot Janet, and ambulance arrives and he drives off without shooting. Meanwhile, Palmer finds out from Webb that Maureen’s source is George Ferrigamo. Palmer then tells Sheri that Maureen is going to accuse their son, Keith Palmer (Vicellous Reon Shannon), or murdering his sister’s rapist. Maureen’s info comes from Keith’s psychiatrist – Ferrigamo.

York and Teri are released by the cop, since the 911 call was verified. They get to where Janet was and someone tells them she was taken to Saint Mark’s Hospital. They head there.

Ira Gaines (Michael Massee) meets Dan and Rick. Rick lies to him and says Janet is dead and the body is hidden.

Mason gets word where Jack is, ends the CTU lockdown and heads towards Jack’s location.

Jack wants to take the bad guy into CTU for questioning, but the cops wont’ let him – so he’s allowed to talk with the guy briefly. The guy knows Jack’s name, and tells Jack if he wants to see Kim alive, get him freed. Jack gets VERY upset as the cops pull the bad guy away in cuffs.

This is a synopsis, commentary and review of the TV series 24: Season 1 – Episode 3, which occurs in the time frame of 2:00 AM to 3:00 AM. This episode of 24 was directed by Stephen Hopkins. For a complete list of all the stars and directors from all 195 episodes of 24, please click here.

This episode of 24 begins with Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) sending the fingerprint from the cutoff finger in for ID. Teri Bauer (Leslie Hope) calls Jack to update him about Kim Bauer (Elisha Cuthbert) and Janet York (Jacqui Maxwell). Jack speaks to Alan York (Richard Burgi) about waiting at Janet’s vehicle for the girls to return.

Ira Gaines (Michael Massee) is arguing with Mandy (Mia Kirshner) about the cost of the ID. Mandy says she’ll deal with it. Gaines then calls Dan to check on Kim. Janet is moaning in pain – Rick wants to help her, Dan doesn’t. Rick injects Janet with some heroine.

Jack secretly enters CTU and calls Nina Myers (Sarah Clarke) to distract her while he gets with Jamey Farrell (Karina Arroyave) and gives her the key card to get all the data off. Jack then keeps Nina busy while Jamey checks her system. Jamey confirms Nina’s system created the card and Jack lets her shut down Nina’s security access.

Kim and Janet run from Dan and Rick, but that doesn’t work out so well – but there’s lots of tension and drama. Kim gets to call her mom with a swiped cell phone and tell her where they are, and Janet gets hit by a car as she’s running. She’s presumed dead and left in the road.

Senator David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert) meets with Carl Webb (Zach Grenier). Palmer tells Webb that Maureen Kingsley (Devika Parikh) called him saying she had new information proving that the man who raped Palmer’s daughter, Nicole Palmer (Megalyn Echikunwoke), was murdered by Palmer’s son, Keith Palmer (Vicellous Reon Shannon). Webb says he’ll fix it.

At CTU, Jack confronts Nina about being a spy. Nina emphatically denies it. Jamey comes in and they all go over the data on the card and determine that the card was programmed when Nina and Jack were in Santa Barbara – Nina is very upset with Jack. Meanwhile, Tony calls someone and tells them Jack needs to be relieved of his command.

Gaines shows Mandy that he’s deposited an additional $1 million into her account – and wants the ID card. Mandy’s lover/accomplice leads them to a spot where the card was hidden. Once Gaines has the card, a sniper kills Mandy’s accomplice.

The final scene shows that Janet is still alive, though badly injured.

TV series 24: Season 1 – Episode 2

August 23rd, 2010 by Damien "DJ" Andrews | Posted in 24 - The TV Series | No Comments »

This is a synopsis, commentary and review of the TV series 24: Season 1 – Episode 2, which occurs in the time frame of 1:00 AM to 2:00 AM. This episode of 24 was directed by Stephen Hopkins. For a complete list of all the stars and directors from all 195 episodes of 24, please click here.

This episode of 24 begins with Mandy (Mia Kirshner) landing in the Mojave Desert after parachuting from the 747 she blew up. At CTU, Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) gives orders to Nina Myers (Sarah Clarke) and Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard). Jack tells Tony the 747 flight originated in Germany, where the suspected assassin is coming from, so the crash should be considered an attack.

A man in a jeep picks Mandy up in the desert. Then someone on a motorcycle goes to where she had been and uses a tracker to locate something she buried and retrieve it.

Teri Bauer (Leslie Hope) and Alan York (Richard Burgi) arrive at the store where Dan and Rick met their daughters Kim Bauer (Elisha Cuthbert) and Janet York (Jacqui Maxwell). Nobody is there, but Janet’s car is. Dan is driving the van and Janet is sick. Kim complains, but to no avail. Clearly, Dan and Rick are kidnapping the girls.

Richard Walsh (Michael O’Neill) arrives on an upper floor of a building. A man, Scott, comes from the shadows with evidence about who in the agency is conspiring against Senator David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert). Scott hands Walsh a key card with data stored on the strip and then gets shot dead and Walsh is wounded. Walsh calls Jack for help. Jack heads to him.

Mandy arrives at a remote building where Ira Gaines (Michael Massee) is. Gaines pays Mandy and she tells him he’ll get the stolen ID soon.

Jack arrives at the building where Walsh is, gets the entry code from Nina via cell phone – Tony eavesdrops. Jack makes it to Walsh on the roof and they start down to Jack SUV.

We see a flash of Mandy as she meets a guy who looks exactly like the photographer she killed on the plane, Martin Belkin. This is the assassin hired to kill Palmer.

Jack and Walsh kill two men on the ground floor, then Jack cuts one man’s finger off for ID later. Mandy’s accomplice arrives, but won’t give the ID to Gaines without getting more money – Mandy doesn’t like it, either.

Secret Service agent Aaron Pierce (Glenn Morshower) arrives at Palmer’s hotel suite/headquarters with more men and news of the upgraded threat to Palmer’s life. Palmer is not in the suite – he’s gone secretly to the basement to get his car and go meet with Carl Webb (Zach Grenier) about Maureen Kingsley (Devika Parikh).

Jack and Walsh make a dash for Jack’s car, but Walsh is shot twice. He tosses Jack the key card and tells him to have Jamey Farrell (Karina Arroyave) match it to a computer – and the dirty agent will be located. Walsh is shot again and dies, Jack escapes in his SUV. Jack sends the card data to Jamey from his vehicle.

Dan stops the van and jerks Kim out and tells her to call Teri and tell her she’s okay. Dan is about to get rough with Kim, but Rick stops him saying “he told us not to hurt her.” Dan then breaks Janet’s arm to make Kim place the call.

Jamey sends Jack the owner of the computer from the key card: Nina Myers.

August 19th, 2010 by Damien "DJ" Andrews | Posted in 24 - The TV Series | No Comments »

This is a synopsis, commentary and review of the TV series 24: Season 1 – Episode 1, which occurs in the time frame of 12:00 PM to 1:00 AM. This episode of 24 was directed by Brad Turner. For a complete list of all the stars and directors from all 195 episodes of 24, please click here.

This episode of 24 begins the groundbreaking, popular TV series that will run for eight seasons. Kiefer Sutherland, as will always be the format, begins with a brief comment about the time of day the episode occurs in. In this first episode, he also announces that this is the day of the California presidential primary and that events occur in real time. We then go to scenes of Kuala Lampur, and to the inside of a building where a man opens a suitcase with a computer inside. He transmits a file via satellite and then hard knocking on his door begins. We then flash to a formal party where a man gets a call telling him that Senator David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert) is the confirmed target. We then flash to the California campaign headquarters of Palmer. Palmer is meeting with his assistant Patty Brooks (Tanya Wright) as his wife, Sherry Palmer (Penny Johnson) serves coffee.

Then it’s off to the home of uber-agent Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland), who is playing a board game with his daughter, Kim Bauer (Elisha Cuthbert). Jack then has a conversation with his wife, Teri Bauer (Leslie Hope) about Kim. They decide to confront Kim about her attitude, and go to her room – but she’s left through the window. Jack gets a call from his partner at CTU, Nina Myers (Sarah Clarke). He must go in to work ASAP.

Kim is riding with her friend, Janet York (Jacqui Maxwell), to meet two guys: Dan and Rick.

Jack arrives at CTU and asks Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard) for all background on Palmer. Kim and Janet arrive at the furniture store where they are to meet the guys and Janet goes inside the closed store with Dan. Kim introduces herself to Rick. Rick grabs a 6-pack and they head inside the store.

Richard Walsh (Michael O’Neill) arrives at CTU and meets with Jack alone after a brief meeting with several agents. Walsh tells Jack there is likely a spy in one of the agencies – quite likely at CTU. He also tells Jack how critical it is that Palmer is not assassinated. Finally, he tells Jack that George Mason (Xander Berkeley) will be coming over from Division.

We flash to a quick call between palmer’s assistant and Martin – the notable photographer flying to LA to photograph Palmer. After his call, the young lady in the plane seat next to him strikes up a flirty conversation about Palmer.

Jack meets with George Mason, who tells Jack the assassin is European, probably German. Jack and Mason don’t get along well. Jack asks Mason to get permission to give Jack a source. Mason fakes the call, but Jack knows it. Jack goes and gets a tranquilizer gun and a binder and then goes and shoots Mason with a tranq dart. Jack uses blackmail to get Mason to cooperate better.

Teri gets a call from Alan York (Richard Burgi) – the father of the girl Kim is out with. He’s worried about his daughter.

It comes out that Nina is sleeping with Tony, and used to sleep with Jack.

Jack asks CTU tech Jamey Farrell (Karina Arroyave) to find/hack a password – off the record. Jamey does it – it’s Kim’s email password: LIFESUCKS. Jack calls and tells Teri. Meanwhile, Kim is making out with Rick.

We go back to the plane with the photographer and young lady. The two of them are getting along well.

David Palmer is flirting with his wife and rubbing her feet when Patty comes in with a call from reporter Maureen Kingsley (Devika Parikh). (I think it’s important to note how deeply in love with his wife, David Palmer is at 12:30 in the morning.) Palmer gets upset and hangs up.

Nina calls Alan York and tells him that Kim was meeting Janet and then going to the closed furniture store. York asks if he can accompany her to the store – and she agrees. The four kids are about to head for a party, and Kim says she must go home because mom sent her 5 messages. Janet doesn’t want to leave, so she gets in Dan’s van. Rick opens the sliding door and tells Kim they will drop her at home. Kim agrees. (And thus begins her long series [over years] of bad decisions and problems for her parents.)

Back to the plane where the man, Martin, and the woman, Mandy (Mia Kirshner), are getting frisky in the lavatory. Martin goes back to his seat.

Jack awakens Mason and asks him where the tips came from – again. He then tells Mason he has proof of Mason’s illegitimate activities. Mason gives Jack the information.

On the plane, Mandy goes to the rear of the plane and injects a stewardess in the neck, knocking her out. We’re shown that Mandy has a security key card – just as martin realizes his card is missing. Mandy grabs a stowed suitcase and uses part of it to encircle the plane’s emergency exit. She then gets a black, heavy suit out and puts it on. She then retrieves a bomb from a fire extinguisher and attaches it to a counter. As the bomb counter clicks down, she dons a helmet and goggles and then pushes a button – blowing the door off and sucking her outside. Then, as she floats down, the plane explodes. Teri calls Jack and tells him about Kim, and being with York. Jack is about to go to her when Tony tells him about the 747 being bombed over the Mojave. Jack stays at CTU.

Kim asks Dan to turn the van towards her house, but he refuses – Rick won’t help her. Both guys tell her to just relax…

Note: this season of 24 is very involved, with lots of twists and turns – so these blogs may sometimes run a bit long, so that you get the complete picture of what’s going on.

This is the final episode of season 5 of the TV show 24. This episode of 24 begins in the master bedroom of the presidential ranch/retreat. Martha Logan (Jean Smart) has just slept with her husband President Charles Logan (Gregory Itzin) to delay his departure – while Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) tries to get onboard the president’s helicopter. It is evident Martha is feeling a bit ashamed of what she has just had to do. Jack, who is in the helipad flight building with Secret Service agent Aaron Pierce (Glenn Morshower), gets a call from Chloe O’Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub). Chloe says that she and Morris O’Brian (Carlo Rota) may have a way to get the copilot off the presidential chopper.

Mike Novick (Jude Ciccolella) is making the paperwork necessary to get the copilot off the presidential chopper, and to get Jack on as a licensed copilot. Martha comes to tell him that she can’t stall Logan any longer. The switch is pulled off – Jack is now the copilot on the presidential chopper. Logan and his entourage, including Martha, arrive at the helipad. Novick tells Martha she must make an excuse not to get onto the chopper – she does. Logan boards the chopper with two Secret Service agents.

Jack pulls a gun on the pilot and makes him disconnect his com and stow his helmet. The Jack goes back and tasers the two agents and has Logan cuff himself. Then jack takes off his helmet and Logan sees that it’s Jack – and he is clearly afraid. Jack calls Chloe. She tells him to head for an abandoned printing company building, where Morris will meet him with the altered communication equipment jack asked for. Logan pleads with Jack – but Jack just stares at him.

The chopper lands and Jack takes Logan off and into a vacant building. Jack searches Logan and removes everything from his pockets and throws it all on a table. Miles arrives and gives Jack a briefcase and the com equipment – in a small envelope. Jack calls Chloe to confirm he has the equipment – Chloe tells him he has 10 minutes until Secret Service agents arrive and if he doesn’t get Logan to confess by then, they’ll all go to jail for treason.

Jack sets up the briefcase, which has a camera and recorder and is transmitting to Chloe at CTU. Jack starts interrogating Logan. Logan won’t say anything that Jack wants him to. Jack tells him if he doesn’t confess, he’ll kill him. Jack stands up and is about to shoot Logan, but he can’t pull the trigger. The Secret Service agents arrive and Jack lowers his gun and surrenders. The president tells the agents to put Jack into solitary confinement as he collects his things off the table where jack threw them.

Logan arrives at the airport where Air Force 1 is located. Novick and Martha are there waiting for him. Novick gets a call and goes and tells Martha that Jack didn’t get a confession. Novick doesn’t know why. Martha joins Logan on the tarmac, just as President Palmer’s body is being readied for the flight, right after the press conference: there are reporters in chairs in front of a stage and podium waiting for Logan to speak. Martha goes ballistic seeing the casket and starts calling Logan a murderer. Logan tries to calm her, but then he has her taken away and put into an airport hanger. Logan tells his aide that he wants to make sure she’s alright, and he follows.

Logan enters the hanger and slaps Martha on the face. He roughly checks Martha for a wire. He then makes her confess to helping Jack get on the chopper, and asks her why she did it. Martha starts yelling out the reasons: you killed David Palmer, you sold nerve gas to terrorists, etc. Logan says he did it because he had to – for the good of the country. He then grabs Martha and tells her if she blows up again, he’ll fill her full of drugs and have her committed for the rest of her life. Logan tells her to clean herself up, and then the two leave the hanger enroute to the press conference. Logan goes to the podium and starts his speech.

Back at CTU, Chloe gets a call from the Attorney General (AG), just as Bill Buchanan (James Morrison) and Karen Hayes (Jayne Atkinson) walk in the door. They want to know what the hell is going on. Chloe tells them the AG is on a conference call right now, and he’s waiting to hear a recording. The AG asks what the recording is, and Chloe tells them all that Jack placed a listening device in Logan’s things, and the recording is of a conversation 5 minutes earlier between Martha and Logan. Chloe plays the recording.

Logan is delivering his speech – about how wonderful he is. A Federal Marshal in the security detail gets a call from the AG. He then starts talking to the Secret Service agents. They make their way to the stage and after Logan finishes his speech, the marshal arrests him – and shows him the micro-transmitter Jack planted on his pen. Logan looks over at Martha who gives him an “I won” look. Logan then tries to get the Secret Service to arrest the marshal, but they won’t. Logan is escorted away.

Jack is released, and Audrey shows up where he is getting medical attention. They kiss bigtime. An agent comes to Jack and tells him he has a call from his daughter – he can take it on the land line just inside a door into the empty building. Jack tells Audrey he’ll be right back – Audrey says she’ll always be there for him. Jack goes to take the call, but when he picks up the receiver, three men jump him and knock him out.

Buchanan and Hayes talk. Hayes said she’d try to get CTU restarted, and Buchanan back in charge. Buchanan asks her on a date. Morris (Chloe’s ex-husband) takes Chloe out of CTU – lovingly.

Audrey gets tired of waiting and goes to find Jack – but only finds the phone’s receiver of the hook. Audrey runs out and tells the agents that jack is missing – everyone starts looking for him. We then see a very badly beaten Jack being dropped onto a concrete floor in a building somewhere. Cheng Zhi (Tzi Ma) is there – he’s the Chinese investigator from last season. He reminds Jack of his assault on the Chinese Embassy. Jack asks to be killed, but Cheng tells him that he’s far too valuable to kill. We then see that Jack is actually on a cargo ship bound for Shanghais.
