This is a detailed synopsis, as well as a commentary and review of the TV series 24: Season 8 – Episode 24, which occurs in the time frame of 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This will be the last year that 24 will be televised, and this is the final episode this year. This episode of 24 begins at the UN press conference. Russian President Yuri Suvarov (Nick Jameson) is speaking, President Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones) and Dalia Hassan (Necar Zadegan) are right behind him. Dalia walks away before being polite and Suvarov realizes she knows about his involvement in her husband’s murder. He confronts Taylor about it, but their conversation is cut short by a phone call for Suvarov. It’s Ex-President Charles Logan (Gregory Itzin) to tell him he needs to come to his office immediately. As Logan tries to convince him to come, Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) listens and keeps his sniper rifle aimed at his head. Logan talks to Jack as Chloe O’Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub) wakes up, handcuffed to a railing on the floor of the room Jack is in.

Cole Ortiz (Freddie Prinze Jr.) has waited the 20 minutes and calls Chloe, who doesn’t answer. Cole sends men to the building and floor where Jack is. Agents start rushing into the building. Chloe pleads with Jack not to kill Suvarov – to allow her to disseminate the evidence. Suvarov gets to Logan’s office. Jack gets Suvarov in his scope, but Chloe is getting to him. As Suvarov tries to get Logan to talk to him, Jack stands down. Jack makes Chloe promise to do exactly what he says – she agrees. Jack gives Chloe the data card and makes her shoot him – so she can get out of the building without being searched. The agents rush in as Jack hits the floor – they call for medics.

Cole calls Chloe and she tells him to wait at the command center and make sure that Arlo Glass (John Boyd) is ready to distribute the recording she has. Chloe heads back to command. Jason Pillar (Reed Diamond) was found in his SUV and has told an agent to detain Chloe for questioning. Chloe tries to get by, but can’t. She’s escorted back to the room where Jack is being treated.

Logan calls Pillar and tells him Jack has the recording of he and Suvarov. Pillar needs to find it. Pillar gets to the room and checks the recorder for the recording data – but it’s not there. Pillar has Chloe empty her pockets. He then searches her and finds nothing – Chloe leaves the room. As she walks to the elevator she checks to be sure the card is still hidden in her phone.

Pillar asks the medics if Jack can go to CTU instead of the hospital. The medic says sure, Jack was shot in the perfect place – no organ or artery damage. Pillar realizes Chloe must have hidden the memory chip and starts to chase after her. Jack calls to him. Thinking Jack is going to tell him where the chip is, Pillar goes to Jack and leans over to hear him. Jack grabs him around the neck and then bites him hard, ripping his ear off. Pillar tells the agents to find Chloe.

Chloe gets to command and prepares to send the data to Arlo for dissemination. Pillars’ men rush in and pull the card before it’s finished uploading. Pillar tells the agents to take the card to Logan and Chloe and Cole to CTU lockdown.

Logan takes the chip to Taylor and tells her it’s over. Logan tells her Jack must be killed – and that he’s put a plan in motion. Taylor puts the chip into her computer and starts to play it. It’s Jack on camera making his last comments. Taylor watches with tears in her eyes. Taylor is called to the signing of the agreement.

Logan and Pillar go to Logan’s office to have a drink and celebrate.

Suvarov signs the peace agreement. After a long pause, Dalia signs the peace agreement. Taylor is about to sign but stops, and goes and hands Dalia the special pen Omar had gifted her saying she cannot accept it. Taylor goes to the podium and says she’s been complicit in crimes, and the peace process is now ended. Taylor hurridly leaves and tells Head of Homeland Security, Tim Woods (Frank John Hughes) to warn jack’s transport group that he is going to be attacked. Jack crawls out from the back of an overturned ambulance. He looks up and sees 3 men dressed in tac gear and masks. Woods tells Taylor they were too late – Jack has been taken.

Logan and Pillar hear the news on TV. Taylor calls Logan, but he doesn’t answer. Pillar finally answers the phone and Logan hits him from behind knocking him out. Logan takes Pillar’s pistol and shoots him in the back of the head. Taylor and her people get to Logan’s room, just before he shoots himself in the head.

Taylor tells Woods to have Chloe and Cole released and to use every means to locate Jack. Woods had already done that. Chloe and Arlo pull up archive footage of the place where Jack was taken from the ambulance. They locate the van and track it to a parking area near a building. Chloe sends NYPD, but they’re too far to get to Jack in time.

Jack is pulled from the van and walked under an outdoor stairway. Jack is put on his knees, but he jumps up and runs into his intended killer. Just as the man is about to shoot Jack in the head he gets a call from Taylor. Taylor tells the man to stand down and put Jack on the phone. Taylor and Jack have a touching conversation. She tells Jack to leave the country and hide. The Russian will be after him, and so will the Americans. She hangs up the phone. Chloe, Cole and Arlo watch and listen to the entire thing via the drones.

Jack calls Chloe and makes her promise to protect his daughter and her family. The Chloe and Jack have a touching conversation. Chloe cries and tells Arlo to bring the drones back. Jack, covered in blood from being beaten, stabbed and shot runs away. The final scene is from a drone looking closely at Jack’s face as he slightly smiles for Chloe.

This episode of 24 begins with Arlo Glass (John Boyd) calling Cole Ortiz (Freddie Prinze Jr.) to tell him that Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) just murdered Mikhail Novakovich (Graham McTavish) and 6 of his guards. Cole parks near Jim Ricker’s (Michael Madsen) apartment and walks to the entrance. As he enters, Ricker sees him on camera and runs facial recognition software. Cole shoots his way in to find Ricker pointing a gun at him. They chat. To help Jack, Ricker agrees to help Cole find him.

Chloe O’Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub) arrives at the UN to run security for the peace talks. She gets a message that Meredith Reed (Jennifer Westfeldt) has been arrested. Cole calls Chloe and tells her that Jack is probably going after Russian President Yuri Suvarov (Nick Jameson) next. He also tells her that Jack has the recording of Logan and Suvarov discussing the day’s plans. Chloe tells Cole that they need to get the evidence from Jack as Reed was arrested and a memory chip confiscated. Cole heads for the UN.

Logan calls President Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones) and tells her Jack killed Novakovich. Then he tells her that it was Suvarov who was in charge of Novakovich, but there’s no way Jack could know this. Taylor is shocked. Taylor tells Logan that if Jack proves to Dalia Hassan (Necar Zadegan) that Suvarov was responsible for Omar’s death, she won’t sign the agreement with him. Jack hears it all via the bug he planted in Logan’s shirt. Jason Pillar (Reed Diamond) sees Logan off to the UN in his new limo and then gets in his SUV. Jack pops up in the back seat and tells Pillar to drive to the UN.

Dalia gives Taylor a very nice, special pen that was to be her gift from Omar. She thanks her for her honor and integrity throughout the process. Kayla Hassan (Nazneen Contractor) gets with Dalia and tells her about the call from Reed. Dalia heads for the residence to call Reed.

Cole gets to the command center at the UN and asks Chloe what they will do with the file Jack has – if they get it. Chloe says they’ll send it out to everyone using CTU servers.

Jack has Pillar use his IDs to drive him past UN security and into underground parking. Jack is bleeding badly from his knife wound and at gunpoint makes Pillar sew his side up. Jack is about to shoot Pillar in the back of the head, but Pillar cries and pleads – Jack knocks him out, and hits him again for good measure – then locks him into the SUV. Jack takes his bag and walks away.

Dalia can’t reach Reed, and her editor doesn’t know where she is. Dalia goes to tell Taylor that Suvarov may be involved in Omar’s murder. Dalia asks Taylor for help finding Reed. Taylor lies and says the rumor of Russian involvement was investigated and found to be frivolous. Dalia says Reed is not frivolous at all. Dalia says she won’t sign the treaty if she can’t talk to Reed. Taylor then says she must come clean – and tells Dalia she had Reed arrested for trying to make false accusations. Dalia says that makes no sense at all. Dalia realizes Taylor knew about the Russian involvement and has been lying to her. Dalia says there will be no peace agreement signed with her husband’s murderers and that she will file a complaint with the UN to get Reed released, along with her evidence. She starts to leave and Taylor stops her saying she WILL sign the agreement or Taylor will invade her country and destroy it. Dalia walks away – somewhat dazed and very upset.

Jack is on the 22^nd floor of the building across from the UN. He puts miniature cameras into the hallway and enters a utility room where he can see the UN main entrance. He sets up a snipe rifle at a table near a window.

Arlo calls Chloe and tells her he saw Jack’s reflection in a candy machine in the building across the street from the UN. Chloe tells Cole she’s going to talk to him. Chloe tells Cole to give her 20 minutes, then sound the alarm and protect Suvarov.

Jack sits down in front of a small recorder and makes a video explaining why he has done what he has done. A very cold and distant Dalia joins Taylor to greet Suvarov when he arrives. Chloe finds the room Jack is in and enters – Jack takes her gun and sits her down. Chloe tells him he doesn’t need to kill Suvarov – there’s another way. She also says Cole will storm the building in less than 10 minutes. Jack tells her she should not have come and puts her to sleep gently. Jack sets up at the sniper rifle at the window.

Jack calls Logan from Pillar’s phone and tells him he has his head in his crosshairs. He tells Logan to do what he says or he’ll kill him. Jack says to have Suvarov come to his office as soon as the press conference is over…

This will be the last year that 24 will be televised. This episode of 24 begins with a news broadcast in which President Allison Taylor’s (Cherry Jones) press secretary announces the involvement of Ex-President Charles Logan (Gregory Itzin) in the peace process. Logan watches happily. Jason Pillar (Reed Diamond) calls Logan and tells him Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) escaped – again – and that he found the butchered, badly torn apart body of Russian assassin Pavel Tokarev (Joel Bissonnette).

Jack is quickly walking with Meredith Reed (Jennifer Westfeldt). She stops and says she needs to know what is happening. Jim Ricker (Michael Madsen) tells Jack he needs to go back to his place to run a locate on the phone number Jack gave him – Logan’s cell phone. Jack tells Reed that the video recording he gave her is the only evidence against the Russians, but that the conspiracy includes Americans as well, and they must be flushed out.

Dalia Hassan (Necar Zadegan) is suspicious about how Logan got the Russians to agree to continuing the peace talks. She has her people start digging into it.

Logan meets with Taylor and tells her Jack got away – again. Logan tells Taylor she needs to call Reed’s publisher and lock down the story before it’s released. Taylor is appalled. Logan sweet talks her into it in his con-man style. Logan leaves to meet Russian President Yuri Suvarov (Nick Jameson).

Arlo Glass (John Boyd) picks up the feed of the NYPD at the building where Tokarev’s body is and shows Chloe O’Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub). Chloe has found out that Ricker is who is helping Jack. Arlo starts searching for where Ricker now lives.

Ricker calls Jack and tells him where Logan is, and then puts the locator/tracker feed onto Jack’s PDA. Jack throws his large bag of stuff into an SUV and steals it.

Taylor tells Head of Homeland Security, Tim Woods (Frank John Hughes) to have the FBI search Reed’s offices for the “purported” evidence. Woods says that’s censoring the press and very touchy stuff. Woods reluctantly agrees to follow orders.

Jack arrives at a building and enters with his bag. Reed calls her editor – they agree to meet in 15 minutes. Reed tells him not to tell anyone. Jack unpacks a bullet proof body suit, including a heavy steel helmet. Mikhail Novakovich (Graham McTavish) calls Logan and tells him he’s afraid. Logan tells him not to worry. Logan’s limo and two guard vehicles pull under an overpass. Jack steps out dressed in armor and begins shooting. He takes out the cars in front and behind Logan’s group and then starts towards Logan’s limo. Logan is screaming to his agents “that’s Jack Bauer.” The agents call for backup. Jack shoots anyone who gets out of Logan’s cars, but only wounding shots. Jack climbs onto the hood of Logan’s armored limo and uses a special rifle to start shooting the bullet proof glass. Once there’s a small crack in the glass he drops a gas grenade into the limo. Logan gets out of the gas-filled limo and Jack grabs him and takes him through a door into some passageways. (In my opinion, this is one of the very best scenes ever done by 24.)

CTU learns about Jack kidnapping Logan. Pillar arrives at the scene with his men. Pillar finds the door Jack went through and follows with his men. Chloe and Arlo have tapped into Pillar’s com – and hear him tell his men to kill Jack.

Jack has Logan alone in a small underground room and starts roughing him up asking him who else is involved. Logan tries to lie his way out, but Jack isn’t having any today. Logan, in terror, gives up Mikhail Novakovich. Jack hears Pillar and his men coming and puts Logan to sleep. Pillar finds Logan, unconscious.

Reed gets a call from her editor – the FBI is at his office and he can’t make it to the meeting. He tells her to protect the evidence. Reed flees the coffee shop – in case the call was monitored.

Chloe releases Cole Ortiz (Freddie Prinze Jr.) and tells him to go find Ricker and find out what he knows about Jack.

Jack gets to the building where Novakovich’s office is and takes out his driver in the basement, after finding out where Novakovich is in the building and how many guards he has. Jack walks towards the elevator, shooting 2 guards on the way. One of the guards stabs Jack in the side just before he gets into the elevator.

Reed calls Kayla Hassan (Nazneen Contractor) from a hotel pay phone and tells her she needs to speak to Dalia Hassan (Necar Zadegan). Kayla starts to hang up, but stops as Reed explains. Reed tells her the Russians were behind Omar Hassan’s assassination and she has proof, but then she has to hang up because of suspicious people around her. Reed walks away from the phone and is taken by the FBI. They arrest her and take a video chip from her purse.

Woods tells Taylor that Reed is in custody and they got a data card from her. Taylor says to bring the card to her – that ONLY she gets to see what’s on it. Logan is on a stretcher and wakes up. He tells Pillar to warn Novakovich that Jack is on his way to him. Pillar calls Novakovich’s office. We flash to Novakovich’s office, where blood and bodies are all over the floor. A badly wounded guard, and the only survivor of Jack’s attack, crawls to the phone and tells Pillar it was Jack – and everyone, including Novakovich is dead. He tells Pillar Jack was wounded and bleeding. Pillar updates Logan. Logan calls Russian President Yuri Suvarov (Nick Jameson) and tells him that Novakovich was murdered by Jack. It is made clear that Suvarov was telling Novakovich what to do -  including killing President Hassan. As Logan and Suvarov review their whole plan, the camera moves in slowly to show that Logan has a miniature microphone attached to his collar, and Jack has been listening and recording the entire time. Logan says he’s headed to the UN as soon as possible and hangs up. Jack, bleeding badly, picks up his bag and starts moving again.

This will be the last year that 24 will be televised. This episode of 24 begins with two policemen taking a handcuffed Cole Ortiz (Freddie Prinze Jr.) to where Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) killed Dana Walsh (Katee Sackhoff). One of the cops says Dana was killed ‘execution style.’

In the back of a cab, Jack watches the video he got from Dana on his PDA. The video recording only shows Pavel Tokarev (Joel Bissonnette), but it incriminates the Russian government in the nuclear threat and Hassan’s assassination. Jack sends the video file to Jim Ricker (Michael Madsen) and tells him to ID Tokarev for him.

At CTU, Jason Pillar (Reed Diamond) tells everyone to drop everything except for finding Jack. He also tells people that Cole is coming in for questioning. Chloe O’Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub) asks Pillar about the bank, and the evidence Dana said she had. Pillar shuts her down. Chloe tells Arlo Glass (John Boyd) that something is seriously wrong. Chloe tells Arloe that she thinks Jack was right, and this is a cover up that starts at the highest levels.

Jack arrives at Ricker’s and Ricker makes him tell him what’s going on. Jack tells Ricker everything – including about Renee. Ricker then tells Jack about Tokarev. Ricker can’t locate where Tokarev is. Jack calls reporter Meredith Reed (Jennifer Westfeldt), President Hassan’s ex-lover. He tells her about the Russians and the evidence. He asks her to meet him at a department store in 20 minutes so he can give her the recording and she can follow through with it. She agrees.

Cole arrives at CTU in cuffs and Pillar questions him about Jack. Cole tells Pillar he’s part of the cover up. Pillar gets told they may have a line on Jack and he leaves Cole. Jack’s call to Reed was intercepted and is being prepared so that it can be listened to. Moments later, Ex-President Charles Logan (Gregory Itzin) and Mikhail Novakovich (Graham McTavish) are listening to Jack’s call to Reed, which was forwarded by Pillar. Now, CTU and the Russians know where Jack will be in less than 20 minutes. Pillar has sent the Russian special ops team to the department store to kill Jack.

Chloe calls Arlo into an office and shows her that Pillar is up to no good. Arlo finally agrees to help Chloe. Chloe and Arlo create a way to work without Pillar monitoring it. Arlo creates a loop of the video feed of Cole in detention. Chloe wants to talk to him privately. Chloe asks Cole for help – he’s reluctant because Jack executed Dana, but he gives in and tells Chloe that Jack must be working with someone in the city – he had state of the art equipment. Chloe goes to search fro someone who might be helping Jack.

Tokarev is setup with a sniper rifle overlooking the place in the department store where jack is to meet Reed. He also has men on the floor. Logan calls and tells him to kill Reed also.

President Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones) meets with Logan, who tells her they’ve found Jack and will acquire him and the evidence. He also wants Taylor to make public his role in the peace agreement. (He’s so sleazy.) Taylor agrees.

Reed arrives at the meeting place inside the department store. Pillar is watching via store cameras. Jack is at the store, but none of the Russians or the cameras can see him. Then Pillar sees him and tells the Russians, who still can’t see him. Tokarev finds Jack in his scope and is about to shoot when Ricker puts a gun to his throat and has him put the rifle down. He tells Jack the top is clear. Jack grabs Reed and tells her to come with him and do exactly what he says. Pillar tells the Russians to take Jack out now! Jack stashes Reed and goes back for the Russians. Jack takes out 4 Russians with guns and then he and Reed flee. They meet up with Ricker and Tokarev and they all leave the store.

Pillar calls Logan and tells him Jack and Reed are alive and at large. Pillar tells Logan he needs to distance himself because if Tokarev talks, he’s in big trouble. Logan says he can’t – Taylor’s press secretary is making an announcement about his involvement in the peace agreement. Logan tells Pillar to go find Jack! Pillar takes CTU SWAT and heads for the department store to try and track Jack.

Jack and company enter an abandoned building. Ricker has Tokarev empty his pockets. Jack tells him to take off his jacket. Reed realizes that she was used as bait. Tokarev drops his jacket on the floor, and as he is picking it up he removes the card from his phone. Jack gives Reed the video recording and has Ricker take her out of the room. Jack ties Tokarev to a post to interrogate him. Jack tells Tokarev that Renee was killed with a rifle just like the one he is carrying. As Reed watches the video, Jack goes to work with a pair of pliers. Tokarev says “yeah – I killed your bitch.” Jack gets rough. Reed can hear and wants him to stop.

Pillar gets to the store and pulls the NYPD guys away to look for Jack. He tells them to shoot on sight.

Jack wakes Tokarev up with ammonia and then starts using his knife to get answers – he wants to know who runs Tokarev. The knife doesn’t get it – so Jack uses a torch. Jack sees Tokarev’s cell phone. He asks Tokarev where the SIM card is – and starts looking on the floor. When he can’t find it – he knows Tokarev swallowed it. Jack cuts it out of him and puts it back in the phone. He hits redial – it’s to Logan’s cell phone.

This will be the last year that 24 will be televised. This episode of 24 begins at the UN where Dalia Hassan (Necar Zadegan) is delivering her speech to the world – vowing to continue her assassinated husband’s work. Jason Pillar (Reed Diamond) tells Ex-President Charles Logan (Gregory Itzin) that Mark Bledsoe (D.B. Sweeney) called and said that Dana Walsh (Katee Sackhoff) is harder to break than he’d thought she would be.

Bledsoe is waterboarding Dana and asking her where the evidence is. Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) has arrived at the building where Dana is being tortured with Cole Ortiz (Freddie Prinze Jr.). They start the process of entering the building, taking out guards as they go. Cole unties Dana while Jack shoots guards. They all exit the building.

Arlo Glass (John Boyd) tells Chloe O’Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub) that one of Cole’s men broke free and called in and said Jack took Cole hostage. Chloe pulls satellite coverage of the building Dana was just taken from.

Jack asks Dana for the evidence – and he’ll let her go. She doesn’t believe him so he pulls over and threatens to shoot her. She tells him the evidence is in a safety deposit box at First Unity Savings. Dana is the only one who can access the box.

Head of Homeland Security, Tim Woods (Frank John Hughes) tells President Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones) that Jack has Dana and that Logan insists on talking to her right away. Logan tells Taylor she needs to install Pillar at CTU to head the manhunt for Jack. Taylor agrees. Pillar heads to CTU.

Mikhail Novakovich (Graham McTavish) goes into Logan’s office with Pavel Tokarev (Joel Bissonnette), the man who killed Renee, and others. Logan tells Novakovich that Jack has Dana, who has evidence that will implicate the Russians in the earlier nuclear threat and murder of President Hassan. Logan gives Novakovich a special untraceable phone. Pillar will feed Novakovich’s people real time intel on where Jack is – Novakovich will have him killed. Tokarev puts the phone in his pocket and they leave Logan.

Jack, Cole and Dana get to the bank. Cole is to take Dana in while Jack covers the exits. Dana keeps trying to get her former fiancé, Cole, to turn on Jack.

Pillar and his assistant arrive at CTU and he shows Chloe the order putting him in charge of the hunt for Jack. Chloe is not happy at all.

Dana’s box is brought to the room where she and Cole are. Cole opens the box and pulls a silenced pistol out and comments that Dana never gives up. Then a flash device detonates blinding Cole. Dana knocks him to the floor and takes the pistol. The banker runs in to see if they are okay, and Dana shoots him. Dana removes the rest of the things from the box and then calls 911 and reports seeing Jack in the bank. CTU gets the call also and taps into the bank’s cameras. Pillar confirms that it’s Jack and calls Tokarev. Two officers confront Jack as he watches Dana leaving the bank through a side exit. Jack overpowers the cops and takes off after Dana. On the street, Dana sees Jack and starts running. CTU watches on traffic cameras. Jack follows Dana into a building under construction. She keeps trying to ambush Jack and runs out of ammo. Jack catches up to her. Jack makes her put the video card down on the ground and then walks up to her and shoots her in the chest. And then he shoots her once more. Jack takes the chip and leaves.

This will be the last year that 24 will be televised. This episode of 24 begins in the helicopter that Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) has just stolen. Chloe O’Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub) is trying to get Jack to speak the her on the radio – Arlo Glass (John Boyd) confirms his com is on – he’s just not talking. Cole Ortiz (Freddie Prinze Jr.) tells her the AF choppers are closing in on his position. The AF attack choppers flank Jack and order him down. Jack veers sharply away and downward. Jack lands on a building and leaves the chopper and uses the fire escape to get to the ground – just as NYPD cars are arriving. Jack disappears into the crowds. Chloe tells Cole to take men and go into the field and find Jack.

Secretary of State Ethan Kanin (Bob Gunton) tells President Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones) Jack is on the loose. Taylor says that if Jack talks to people about what he knows, her peace agreement will die. Kanin tells her she’s already lied to too many people, and she is ‘losing her way.’ He says her actions are grounds for impeachment, and possibly criminal indictment. He tries to convince Taylor to come clean and do the right thing. With tears in her eyes, Taylor tells Kanin to prepare a statement withdrawing the US from the peace talks.

Moments later, Taylor is met by in her UN office by Ex-President Charles Logan (Gregory Itzin). She tells him it’s over. Sleazy Logan convinces Taylor to take another approach. Logan tells Taylor to have Dana Walsh (Katee Sackhoff) turned over to a private security firm he knows of – that will torture the location of the evidence out of her. Then damage control is handled. Taylor succumbs and calls Chloe and tells her to release Dana to the private security firm representatives led by Mark Bledsoe (D.B. Sweeney).

Jack buys several cell phones. He calls Chloe and tells her Taylor is covering up the evidence that the Russians killed President Hassan and spearheaded a nuclear terrorist attack on the US – she no longer is president. He wants Dana. Chloe says no – and pleads with him to surrender. Chloe tells him about Taylor’s call and that Bledsoe is coming for Dana. Jack says he’ll call back to find out where they’re taking her and throws the phone away.

Jack calls Jim Ricker (Michael Madsen). Jack tells Ricker the equipment he wants, which is a lot.

Bledsoe is met at CTU by Chloe, who insists on seeing the order to release Dana. Bledsoe hands her his PDA and Chloe secretly slips in a memory chip and downloads all of the info from the device. Bledsoe is taken to Dana and tells her she’s classified as an enemy combatant. Dana screams to Chloe that they are going to kill her as she’s taken out. Chloe goes and reads the memory chip and gets the location where Dana is to be taken.

Jack gets to Ricker’s, gets his equipment and calls Chloe. Chloe tells Jack where Dana is being taken while Chloe has his cell signal traced. Chloe has Cole and his men moving in to capture Jack when he arrives. The address given by Chloe is leading Jack into a trap. Cole deploys his men at the ambush site.

Taylor tells Kanin what she’s done, and Kanin resigns.

Jack gets to the ambush site with a huge bag on his back and calls Chloe for help getting in. Chloe tells Jack where to enter the building, and then calls and tells Cole. Cole calls his men and tells them where jack is and to be ready for him. Jack takes some things from his bag and enters the building. Jack takes down a guard and calls and lies to Chloe about where he is. Cole and his remaining men move in to get Jack, but Jack takes them instead. Jack makes Cole call Chloe and tell her that he is in custody and ready for transport. Jack makes Cole tie his men up. Jack takes Cole hostage. Jack pleads with Cole to help him get to Dana. Cole agrees. Jack leaves with Cole at gunpoint, making his men think he’s been kidnapped.

Bledsoe has Dana strapped down for torture – he wants to know where the evidence is. The torture begins…

Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) is standing over her in a bloody shirt. Jack walks out of the room in a daze. Chloe O’Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub) calls Jack. Jack says he wants to talk to Sergei Bazhaev (Jürgen Prochnow) – since he was a member of Red Square. Reluctantly, Chloe agrees. Jack heads to federal Court, where Sergei is being arraigned.

Secretary of State Ethan Kanin (Bob Gunton) gets back to work and goes to see President Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones), who tells him she’s enlisted the help of Ex-President Charles Logan (Gregory Itzin). Kanin is VERY distressed that Taylor doesn’t know what Logan will do to get the Russians to come back to the table.

Logan meets with Mikhail Novakovich (Graham McTavish). Logan tells him that he knows that he was involved in the nuclear threat and the murder of President Omar Hassan (Anil Kapoor). He will tell Taylor if Novakovich doesn’t go back to the peace talks.

Jack gets to the courtroom where Sergei is. Court takes a recess and Jack talks to Sergei. Jack says he’ll kill Sergei’s entire family if he doesn’t tell him what he wants to know. Sergei tells Jack that Moscow and the Russian government are behind Renee’s murder – and everything else. He doesn’t know names – but says Dana Walsh (Katee Sackhoff) does.

Taylor calls Logan and tells him the Russians are back in. Kanin asks Logan what he said to get Novakovich to change his mind. Logan reminds Taylor that the details are to remain secret.

Jack calls Chloe and tells her to get Dana ready for interrogation. Logan and Jason Pillar (Reed Diamond) arrive at the UN. Pillar tells Logan they have a problem – Jack Bauer. Pillar tells Logan Jack is headed to CTU to question Dana – which may lead back to Logan and the Russian government. Jack has to be stopped from seeing Dana.

Jack arrives at CTU and Chloe takes him to see Dana. He asks Dana who killed Renee. Dana says she doesn’t know. Jack starts knocking her around. Dana says she can tell Jack the killer – and everyone all the way to the top. Dana says she also has proof of who is involved. Dana wants immunity – again – and protection.

Taylor agrees to speak with Logan, with Kanin present. Logan tells Taylor that Jack is out of control – and will mess up the peace process. Taylor insists on Logan telling her the whole truth. Logan tells her that the Russian government was responsible for President Omar Hassan’s (Anil Kapoor) assassination and the nuclear rod threat. Taylor goes ballistic – so does Kanin. Kanin tries to get Taylor to tell Dalia Hassan (Necar Zadegan) the Russians killer her husband, and to back out of the peace talks. Logan pushes for her to stop Jack – and complete her peace agreement. Taylor says she will go to CTU and see Jack.

Taylor arrives at CTU and tells everyone they did a good job and then goes to meet with Jack in a private office. Taylor asks Jack to stand down. Jack doesn’t understand. He tells Taylor the Russians are involved – and he can prove it using Dana. Jack realizes Taylor doesn’t want the truth known – and tells her so. Taylor says nothing can stop her peace plan. She has two guards ready to take Jack to a helicopter which will take him to an AF base – until the peace treaty is signed. Jack is being locked down. Taylor is no longer the “good” president she once was.

Taylor tells Chloe nobody gets access to Dana! Chloe questions Taylor’s judgments. Taylor shuts her down hard. Taylor leaves – Chloe is perplexed. Chloe tells Cole what’s happened. Cole is also perplexed.

Jack is walked out to the chopper on the CTU helipad by several guards. Chloe watches on camera. Jack takes the head guard’s gun and tells him to make his men stand down – Chloe can see something is up and sends more security. Jack steals the helicopter. Chloe calls the Air Force to force Jack down.

Jack apologizes for the death of President Omar Hassan (Anil Kapoor). Taylor says she has no choice but to cancel the peace talks.

Cole Ortiz (Freddie Prinze Jr.) talks to medics who tell him that Samir Mehran (Mido Hamada) was wounded, but will fully recover. Cole tells them to take him to CTU medical. A man dressed as a medic injects Samir in the neck and leaves the area. He passes Renee Walker (Annie Wersching) – who thinks she recognizes him, but can’t remember for sure. Jack tells Cole that he and Renee are going home now – it’s over.

The man dressed as a medic calls Mikhail Novakovich (Graham McTavish) and tells him that Renee may have recognized him, and so she must be killed. The man is following the cab taking Renee and Jack to his apartment. The man says he’ll kill Jack at the same time.

Taylor tells Dalia Hassan (Necar Zadegan) how sorry she is. Taylor tells Dalia that many of her government’s leaders want her to replace Omar, and to continue with the peace process. Reluctantly, Dalia agrees.

Head of Homeland Security, Tim Woods (Frank John Hughes) calls Chloe O’Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub) and tells her that he is relieving CTU Director Brian Hastings (Mykelti Williamson) of his post – and he wants Chloe to take over CTU.

Jack and Renee get to Jack’s apartment and head for the bedroom. Meanwhile, the killer sets up across the street with a sniper rifle aimed into Jack’s place.

Novakovich meets with Taylor and tells her that the Russian government will not sign the peace agreement, since Omar is dead. Taylor calls for Secretary of State Ethan Kanin (Bob Gunton), who is just now getting out of the hospital after his very recent heart attack. Taylor tells Kanin about Novakovich – and the Russians pulling out. She wants Kanin to tell her how she can get them back to the table. Kanin tells her that Ex-President Charles Logan (Gregory Itzin) might be able to help. Taylor doesn’t like it, but agrees to hear what Logan has to say.

Cole calls Chloe to medical as Samir is having a heart attack. He dies. Chloe tells the doctor to run a toxicology scan.

Taylor meets with Logan and his assistant Jason Pillar (Reed Diamond). Taylor insists that Pillar leaves. Logan tells Taylor that he has leverage that can force the Russians back to the table – but he won’t tell her exactly what he will do. Taylor tells him he’s sleazy, he agrees, but says he can help anyway. Taylor reluctantly agrees. Logan is going to talk to Novakovich. Logan asks Taylor to call ahead and announce that he is now her official emissary.

Jack and Renee are enjoying some post-lovemaking pillow talk. Jack goes to get them drinks. The sniper watches Jack leave his bedroom. Chloe calls Jack’s cell, Renee answers and Chloe tells her Samir was murdered by injection. Renee tells Chloe she may have recognized an EMT and tells her to pull all of her old case files – especially those on Red Square. Renee starts towards the kitchen to tell Jack and she is shot. Jack manages to grab Renee, who is badly wounded, and carry her out of the apartment and into a cab. They get to the hospital and start emergency procedures. Jack is VERY upset. (Uh-oh!) Chloe calls Jack and tells him what she and Renee talked about. The doctor interrupts and tells Jack that Renee is dead. Jack hangs up and goes to Renee’s body and kisses her on the forehead while he cries.

Chloe O’Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub) shows that only one car left the parking garage after the crash. The car left the tracking grid, but Hastings tells Cole Ortiz (Freddie Prinze Jr.) to put out an APB on the car’s appearance.

Mikhail Novakovich (Graham McTavish) goes to see President Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones). He tells her that if President Omar Hassan (Anil Kapoor) is not found, Russia will not sign the peace agreement.

Renee Walker (Annie Wersching) gets to CTU and pulls Chloe aside to talk. Renee tells Chloe that Jack knows there’s a traitor inside CTU. Chloe is to call Jack so he can upload the phone numbers from Tarin Faroush’s (T.J. Ramini) cell phone and the traitor can be found. Chloe gets the encrypted data from Jack.

Dana goes into Hastings office and tells him she needs to make a repair to his system. Meanwhile, Chloe calls Hastings and tells him to come to her station. Dana uses the computer to make her pass out of CTU work. She leaves the room as Chloe and Hastings start seeing the data. Chloe shows Hastings that Dana’s phone is on the data. Dana is walking out of security at the door when the alert is heard. Dana shoots 3 CTU guards, grabs a guard as a shield and leaves – with guards in pursuit. Dana runs into the parking garage – Cole sees her on camera and pursues. Dana is shooting it out with CTU guards. She makes it to her car and squeals out of the space. Cole gets in front of her and shoots her tires out and she wrecks. Cole pulls Dana from the vehicle and sticks his gun in her face and asks her who she is – just as Hastings and his men arrive. Cole releases her to Hastings. She says she’ll only talk to Jack. Dana is taking to holding and wired for questioning.

Jack goes in to question Dana. Dana tells Jack that she wants immunity and payment for telling where Omar is being held. Dana tells Jack Samir is going to force a statement from Omar and then kill him live over the internet – and it all starts in 30 minutes. The woman who had Omar, delivers him to some men at an apartment building. He’s taken upstairs and given to Samir. Samir telle him he must apologize to his people and renounce the peace agreement. Omar says no – Samir has someone start torturing him with drugs.

President Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones) approves Dana’s immunity and visits with Secretary of State Ethan Kanin (Bob Gunton). Taylor asks who would take Omar’s place in his government, if he dies. Kanin says that’s not clear in that country.

Dana starts telling Jack about Samir, where’s he’s being held, etc. Dana doesn’t know the apartment number where Omar is. Cole and Jack assemble men and leave for the building. Meanwhile, since Omar won’t talk – Samir tells his men to prepare the internet feed, and that he’ll read the charges and carry out Omar’s sentence.

Taylor is told Omar is on the internet. She doesn’t tell Omar’s wife and daughter, but she goes to watch.

Chloe is watching the internet feed and tells Hastings that Omar is on the 4^th floor. Arlo gets drone coverage of the building and sees 2 guards no the roof. Hastings calls Jack and updates him. Jack gives orders to Cole and his men. Jack tells Renee to come with him.

As Samir reads Omar’s “crimes,” everyone moves in. They move slowly upstairs. They use a listening device to find the room where Omar is. Jack and Renee enter the apartment quietly and see a child coloring on the couch. The mother walks in – the child is taken outside and the mother is put on the couch with Renee guarding her. Hastings tells Jack Samir is near the end of the charges – he needs to hurry before Omar is killed. Jack finds a secret passage in a closet and opens it. The woman on the couch pulls a pistol and Renee shoots her dead and then follows Jack. Jack rushes into the room where Omar is and shoots 4 bad guys. But he sees Omar is dead – the internet feed is a recording. Jack tells Hastings Omar was dead before they arrived.

Taylor tells omar’s wife and daughter that he’s dead. They fall apart. Taylor cries.

Then it’s off to Secretary of State Ethan Kanin’s (Bob Gunton) office. Kanin is unconscious from the heart attack, Chief of Staff Rob Weiss (Chris Diamantopoulos) is leaning over him checking his pulse. Weiss tells the general that Kanin needs a doctor – now. The general says they have to wait until the bomb is secured. President Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones) tells Weiss to find Kanin.

Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) and Renee Walker (Annie Wersching) are walking President Omar Hassan (Anil Kapoor) and his family back to the UN. Omar tells his wife Dalia Hassan (Necar Zadegan) that it’s not right that so many Americans must die to save his life. Omar comes up behind Jack and knocks him out – then points his pistol at Renee. Omar surrenders himself to the only one of the general’s men who survived the attack and they leave – with Jack and everyone else locked in a small room. Omar and the man get into an SUV on the street and the man calls the general and updates him. The general tells Weiss to make the call. Weiss calls Samir Mehran (Mido Hamada) and tells him they have Omar and will turn him over. Samir calls Tarin Faroush (T.J. Ramini) and tells him to stop the bomb’s detonator – with 7 seconds left.

Jack calls Chloe O’Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub) and tells her about Omar surrendering himself. Dana Walsh (Katee Sackhoff) asks Chloe who called – Chloe lies. Jack tells Renee to take Omar’s family to the AF base – he’s going to look for Omar. Chloe secures a line to Taylor for Jack. Jack tells her the general has betrayed her and that Omar is gone. Jack tells her to confront the general for the location of Omar. Chloe tells Jack she found the SUV with Omar, but lost it on 10^th avenue. Jack steals a car and pursues.

Tarin gets the SUV with Omar, and the man with him gets the van with the dirty bomb in it.

Taylor has Secret Service agents break into Kanin’s office and arrests the general and Weiss. Taylor asks Weiss where Omar is – but he says he won’t talk, that he did the right thing saving Americans.

Hastings tells Chloe and Dana to track the vehicle used to transport Omar. Dana tries to leave the room, but Chloe tells her to get busy. Chloe finds the SUV and calls Jack – it’s 30 blocks from him. Dana walks out and calls Tarin to warn him Chloe is tracking him, but Cole Ortiz (Freddie Prinze Jr.) walks in and she hangs up. Cole runs an intercept mission from CTU – with Jack on sight. Cole tells Jack the details – Dana hears all of it. Dana leaves goes to a tech room and starts working on a computer keyboard. Arlo Glass (John Boyd) walks in and catches her. Arlo sits down at her keyboard to check what she’s been doing. Dana grabs an electrical cord and comes up behind him. She’s about to strangle him when his ear phone goes off – it’s Chloe. Arlo goes back to the floor and Dana calls Tarin and tells him where the ambush is to take place. It is now clear that Dana does not work for Samir or Tarin. She works for someone who told her to help them. Dana tells Tarin where to drive so Samir can get him. She says she’s going to get caught, and must leave CTU.

Jack is 2 blocks behind Tarin and sees him make a sharp turn. Jack tells CTU they’ve been made. Chloe tells Jack Tarin pulled into a parking garage with 2 exits only. A few seconds pass, and when Jack gets to the garage he sees Tarin in the SUV. Jack drives after him. There’s a high speed chase inside the parking structure – where the satellites can’t see anything. Tarin drives to the roof and then speeds off of it and down into the street. Jack climbs down to the street. Jack tells Chloe Omar is not in the vehicle. Back in the covered parking garage, a man injects Omar and puts him inside the trunk of a woman’s car and she drives away. Tarin is dead, but Jack finds his phone on the SUV floor. Jack calls Renee and tells her someone at CTU is dirty. Jack will find out who from Tarin’s cell phone records. Renee heads to CTU.
